Asbury Park Circuit
Out with the new, in with the… Vintage!
The Asbury Park Circuit is a thrilling gathering for vintage car enthusiasts, featuring classic automobiles on display against the backdrop of the town's historic boardwalk and lively atmosphere. The weekly cruise, revived in 2021 by auto enthusiasts Rob Ida of Asbury Park and Tom Parke of Freehold, has a storied history dating back to the 1950s. At the time, Ocean Avenue was a one-way street heading north, and Kingsley Street ran one-way to the south. Besides being seen showcasing their custom rides, one of the main thrills for youngsters at the time was drag racing each other at each intersection when the red traffic lights turned green. The circuit served as a vibrant backdrop to the city's music scene in the '60s, '70s and '80s, with it coming to an end in the mid-'80s when the city made Ocean and Kingsley two-way streets.
